Childhood grace

I was prancing deep in the Forrest one day, food being scarce and I am but a prey. Looking for food and not wanting to die, my babies need life in their big brown eyes
Suddenly, a smell, like sweet nuts and… what the hell?
It had to be magic, maybe a hallucination?
After all there’s no food left in the nation
Yet there it was, before my eyes. A pile of brown food, piled sky high! Could it be a trap? Like the ones that catch mice? For humans have not been known to be nice
But my stomach began to rumble, so through the path I went. And when nothing happened, I thought my mind was bent! Perhaps it was poison? How could this be? This delectable looking treat… all for me?
I leaned in and sniffed, and ate a good piece. If anyone would go from this, it would only be me.
