When I Get Home

When I Get Home
By Chris Commodore©2007

The sun stands just above the line
Nodding with its familiar smile
Soon it will have alighted
At its ultimate destination
Not so for me; plodding along I dare not look
My destination, that reserved space
There, over there, where a solemn assembly wait
Tomorrow the sun smiles again
Repeating its age-old cycle
But for me, only to the inevitable rendezvous
No slapping of hands like savvy city youths
In care-free contentment, when I get home
Only silent applause welcoming me
If I have journeyed well
