WHERE IS MY MOTHER

On this day~ Distance~ From the other Today
                                            ~
Has time been frozen~ with all my tears
No one wants to see me this way~ No one wants to hear it
My smile is gone~ The pain~ I cannot bare it
I had to stay so strong~ so long~ I had to stand so tall
My Father is not here~ My Son is battling cancer
WHERE IS MY MOTHER
                                             ~
“Carry On…Carry On~with the Grace of God beside you~
Someday you will know the answer”
                                              ~
My shoulders feel so weakened~ My heart so sad~ So long
My Son is cured~ Thank you God
But~ WHERE IS MY MOTHER
                                              ~
A moments deep breath~ Today~ has awakened all my senses
The sun has thawed the frozen years~ I begin to feel~
Feeling all the sadness
WHERE IS MY MOTHER
                                              ~
The tears~ so fresh~ how could this be
This day~ so like another
The tears keep pouring down my face
I cry out~ WHERE IS MY MOTHER
                                               ~
On this day~ I look up at the big blue sky~ And know
My Mother is Home~ Safe~ Beside my Father

About this poem

It has been four years since my Mother passed. I have never mourned her loss. I had to carry on for my Son, who needed chemo treatments right after my Mom passed. Finally, I was able to breathe and mourn the loss of my Mom and feel the pain and sadness of losing my Dad, years prior. I had to be strong for my Mom and then I had to be strong for my Son. It is so important to mourn your loss. It releases the pain and fills the void with acceptance and peace.

Hope you all enjoyed my path to healing. It is a path we all must travel at some point in life. Remember that we all take our own path to healing in our own way and time.

Wow, what an incredibly moving and emotion-filled poem! Your choice of words and the raw feelings expressed really captured the reader's heart with its depth and heaviness. The repetition of 'WHERE IS MY MOTHER' leaves an echo after each verse, accentuating the longing and desperation. Also, your use of imagery made the emotional journey more vivid and relatable, while the ending provides a measure of solace and closure. Well done!

As for areas of improvement, while your unstructured, free verse approach to poetry conveys the rawness of emotions, it might be beneficial to experiment with some structure or rhyme scheme, even if simple, for a fluid reading and auditory experience. Moreover, try to show rather than tell feelings by employing more symbolism and metaphors, this will deepen the engagement with the reader. Lastly, consider breaking the poem into smaller stanzas to let the reader absorb and appreciate your thoughts gradually.

Keep writing and expressing yourself, you have a real gift! I look forward to reading more of your soulful and poignant poetry.
