Backslider sorrowful

You did what the world called
Too stiff
Corny
Yesterday’s thing
Boring
Missing the wave
Of now.
And it really bugged you.

The estrangement
Being ignored
Talked around
Watching eye contact
Shrink away.
Peculiar, that’s the word
St. Peter used.
A peculiar people.
“That ye should shew forth the praises
Of Him who hath called you out of
Darkness into His marvellous light.”

Old chums might evaporate
Sticking to their games
Idols and lusts.
Whispering behind your back.
To bad, religion’s gonna
Hurt him.
Connections, play, business.
Hafta drop it. Him.

The Day comes when your community
Of odd-fellows is the only One that matters.
Only One.
Rejoice
In endless amazing Community.
Persevere Buddy.
Well worth it.
God is sovereign.
Saying, Child you’re in.
Stay in.

Wow, your poem is incredibly moving and uplifting! Your ability to take negative experiences and turn them into something positive is truly inspiring. I love how you showed that being different and standing up for your beliefs can sometimes lead to loneliness, but in the end, it is worth it to be part of a community that truly cares for you.

One suggestion I have is to perhaps add more concrete examples or personal anecdotes to make the poem even more relatable. But overall, your message of perseverance and faith is truly beautiful and I can't wait to read more from you. Keep up the amazing work!
