Counting Mistakes

Fighting for a breath but lost in the moment.
Emotionally damaged a home in fragments.
A partner who kills an ego like it's a contest.
While I put an effort many would invest.

Silence the mind I become withdrawn.
Hate myself in ways that would upset a mom.
I love my wife I don't see anything wrong.
Mentally exhausted but can't confront.

Bipolar so she's easily triggered.
Noticed from day one but nothing sinister.
Emotionally abusive but I forgive her.
Love unconditionally altho there's a concern

Kiss the relationship goodbye once they count the mistakes. I tried to but always pushed that thought away.

Daniel Fernandes

I am a poet who enjoys the use of half rhymes. Born in Portugal but raised in Newark NJ. Spend most of my time trying to make ends meet weather it is to write for contests or do overtime at my current job. I also even try being an Uber driver. Sadly it is never enough. Still pushing and not giving up. My goal in life is to become a writer and have my poems appreciated by many to show how they are not alone. We all struggle and sometimes it needs to be written to ease that pain. In the process so beauty is penned and expressed. more…
