Time Scampers Away

Time Scampers Away
(Written January 1, 1996)

No rush, really
But right now
In the wee hours of morn
I hear a little mouse
Scampering, leaping, hurrying
Not me, no rush at all

Hours ago it was 1995
And now it is 1996
Who's hurrying, not me
1995 rushed through
1996  scampered in
Good dawn
Soon good morning

About this poem

The poem appears on page 98 of a Library of Congress book of poems titled "Treasures to Discover." The words of the poem danced around my being when I travelled to the United States every six months, 1999-2008,, to take care of my son Lucas' family. Lucas is one of my six children. It was and is great joy for me to have raised my children who are now on their own. "Time Scampers Away" is reminescent of how I felt time did and does scamper away that fast and now, as a widow I still cherish the time granted to me around my loving and loved children.
