Analysis of In The Arms of A Medic

May 2012
There in the sand of the desert
And the heat of the mid day sun
Lay a young English soldier
Crying out for the arms of his mum

His mates were all around him
Spraying out covering fire
Whilst a medic lay beside him
Sheltered by a landrovers tyre

He was known to his mates as bully
For he was heavy and six foot tall
But to those at home he was baby
For his mum there was no other at all

The medic did all that he could there
He patched up the young brave man
As they lifted him onto a stretchers
He cried out to the Taliban

I may lay here dying and wounded
But be sure that you run and hide
For when I return from heaven
I'll be there at my buddies side

I thought I'd a lifetime of soldiering
Fighting battles with all of my mates
But I don't mind where I am going
As long as it's heavens gold gates

His mates they laid down more cover
Whilst the Taliban tried to reply
And In the arms of the army medic
The young soldier smiled as he died
