Lions at Surf-Side. Namib.

Much like other holidays
Sun and surf and sand
This one awesomely features
Strange exotic land.
Lions come here often
Chores domestic spared
Male and female, little ones
Languish open-aired.

Left the jungle’s darkness
All that tooth-and-claw.
Sharing with me presently
What the sailors saw.
How they fared at landfall?
What the food and rest?
Soon their sea legs strengthened.
Interlude the best.

Lions, whodathunkit?
Breezes beat the veldt
Playing like the neighbour’s cat
Majesty beheld.
Powers, roars like thunder
Left back in the dark.
Gently post-noon frolics
Reach rich, restful mark.

(Strangest juxtaposition in the Namib…desert and ocean and contented lions)
