Women Talking, a film.

Doug Blair 1951 (London)

Film in the now
For Hollywood.
Intense.
Too much dialogue?
Or just the right amount?
All women
Amish and hurting.
A religion that deadens?
All freedom of expression gone.
All delightful exchange
Between Adams and Eves.

Or a religion that proves out
Charity.
Forgiveness.
Good and pure thinking.
Turning the cheek.
Bearing each other’s burdens.
Real and living
Comforts of Jesus.
Silent listening in Love.

Now Jesus, he was a Man
Authenticating equity, harmony
And chivalry.
But the men for these women
Use religion for power
And repression’s sake.
Calling it the will of God.
The special essence of their commune.
The entitlement of Adam.
And Adam alone.

And these men are all absent
For some days at an Event.
They will return to
Their women gone.
For the most part.
Not really knowing whither.
Packed, horses pulling gaily
In Exodus.
Past fields of sunny bountiful corn.
And purple flowers around the gardens.
