When Love Runs Cold

When Love Runs Cold
By Nancy Rodriquez

When love runs cold as ours,
the poetry has stopped rolling freely,
The number of my tears has filled hours,
and it should not have to be,
If your life is no more,
it may explain why my heart can not feel you,
and this rocks me to the core,
Memories are there from what we used to do,
Most people would give up easily,
I have been in this fight for a long time,
in my soul, I know what we could be,
I have not found any peace of mind,
You have been what completed me,
and this feels as though I am missing my heart,
carrying on without a compass to guide  or a map to see,
there is heavy darkness that does not depart,
I keep wavering from this plight,
You are the man of my dreams,
it has become nightmares in the night,
an impossible thing to see the light it seems,
in my being, I know something is not right,
how am I to act when love runs cold?
