Analysis of Transcendence
Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)
Come try me if you dare
in spirit, Jesus said
While i calmly awakening
to breezes, lightly flowing by
So softly as the rains begin to fall
Gently stirring memories
of loving tenderness
In a calling felt within my soul
One moonlit night at sea
Dreamily to rise into consciousness,
To melt gently into the universe.
In spirit to merge with all good people
Along the road of life,
Sail across the desert
of our aimless wanderings
To find unity,
together
Alone, now …
i am contemplating
The light of the candle flame burning low,
As it casts a warming glow.
There’s such feeling in the night air
Absorbing all my cares
remembrance,
In the spirit of his word to rest within
Fulfilling so easily
a softly spoken spirit of love
A sense of calm,
proving to me the fact
There’s an untapped source remaining
No use in
my complaining
I’m not concerned
that it’s raining anymore…
Lord, hear our prayers if you dare…
As a mirror Jesus has come to show with a light
Which moves souls from a world,
as this one…
Far beyond control
His love the perfect measure
To love in joyous harmony,
Humbly fulfilled at heart
In spirit patient, kind, enduring,
Understanding …in peace…
Free, from the toils and suffering
Free again, from sin
Given up, the weakening pleasures…
Free, from bondage of doubt,
Free… to make the turnabout
if you dare To let the feelings out
Come into the light world,
Listen with your heart
We shall meet the caravan
Join me, On the journey to the promised land
There’s a light burning
In the window to my heart
For you to share,
Jesus saying
try me,
If you dare
