So Close

I stare at the clear and star lit sky.
A meteor streaks downward to the earth
So close, so close I reach out,
I want to capture its brilliance,
So I can share it with you.
Two owls swoop down from an oak tree.
They abandon their lofty perch.
So close, so close I reach out,
I want to capture their beauty,
So I can share it with you.
Moonlight caresses all that it touches.
I close my eyes, thinking of you.
So close, so close I reach out,
I want to capture this moment,
So I can share it with you.
I open my eyes still thinking of you.
A fantasy that will never come true.
So close, so close I reach out,
I want to capture my dream
So I can share it with you.

Kim Riggs

I am a mother of a beautiful young lady and a Mimma (grandmother) to a fantastic little man. I work for an ambulance company in NE Arkansas. I am constantly writing something. Many times, it is just random thoughts into a journal. I have written short stories and have been working on a fiction romance story. Poetry is something that comes to me at random times. The poems I have shared are not things I work on writing. They come to me spontaneously and are very rarely edited or changed. It I have not punctuated one, it is because, that's the way it went on paper. I hope you enjoy my work. Thanks more…
