love back

I'm alone still, like always my thoughts are all that is left
I’m thinking, I guess doing what I do best
even though others might just think of me as obsessed
but I just think that I’m overly blessed

for I have a lot of love to give, the problem is that I expect it in return
as I sit here it's what everything in me craves and yearns
I read somewhere, love but don't expect love back
that if you learn how to do that you’re on the right track

you might wonder what does that mean
it might sound simple but it is harder then it seems
for a wise person told me that love is not just a word it's a statement
it is something you show and share not just say it

I might sound selfish at times, I apologize
speak your mind say your peace but don't criticize
for far too long I cared for everybody and no one for me
I waited for nothing so nothing I received

now I refuse to wait and see what is coming my way
now my dreams and ambitions are growing by the day
I demand for happiness in my life
my goals, dreams, and happiness is my drive

I still care for others don't get me wrong
but I cried silent tears too long
this I will say even though to some it will burn
I will love but I will also expect love in return
