Human Nature

Unwilling, compelled, helplessly he strolls
On the path untrodden still.
Once he, with all heart and zeal,
(Like the blue sphere always rolls)
Has chosen the capricious shore of joy!
Who knows better the passion's fate?
Than Helen's soul, and doomed Troy
Who were sacrificed in no late!
Ah! Human helplessness! Their feeble will!
Now vehement, and then silent, still…
