Heartbroken
Have you ever loved someone so much that it engulfed you? Every breath, every thought, every smile was for them. That one person could make your heart race and give you butterflies when just walking into the room? That is your one person, the one person you want to give your life to, your heart to, your everything. Then something changed. Was it the cheating, the lack of intimacy, the way they belittled you? How can your one person make you feel worthless, unloved, and just an afterthought? You look over at that person in the middle of the night and feel like you are in bed with a total stranger. You start to find things to do on your own just so you don’t have to experience the awkward silence that looms between you. That one person that made you feel like you were their world no longer makes you feel that way. You begin to be your own person again. You have given up so many years being there for them, caring for them, loving them, that you have forgotten how to do that for yourself. You lay awake at night wondering: is it over? is it worth fighting for? Do they even feel the distance between you or is that the new normal? You start to let them go. One little thing at a time slips through the cracks. You begin to build your confidence back, your self worth. Only for others to say that you have changed. How do you stay? How do you walk away?
