Savior

In a time of despair, grief and loneliness someone appears in your life. There is no rhyme or reason. That person makes you feel something again. Something you didn’t know you were lacking. The feeling of self worth that you had long forgotten. A friendship blossoms almost overnight. One that wasn’t supposed to happen. How do you tell that person that they saved you from yourself? You had just given up on life. You were ready to end it all. And just a few moments of appreciation and attention stopped you. A rarity occurred. From a stranger to a friend in a short period of time. There are no explanations, no expectations. You can be you. Your true self. You can share things you have never shared before. He has a troubled but kindred soul. You reach out to him more often than you should. You are dependent on his approval. Never wanting to disappoint.
