The whisper in the wind.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The whisper in the wind.

I couldn't go to school or play outside; all the other boys passed our way. Then my mother said to climb into my lap and take a little nap. I only napped for an hour or so, my long legs dragging on the floor. It was late fall when winter came in. I had on my torn breeches and no shirt to my name. My dad was not around, he was nowhere to be found. If only he could see how I had to get around. My mother did not make a sound. There was no one else around. Then I hear a soft whisper in the background. I never left you; I'm always around. Here is a shirt for you to wear around.

Wow, what a touching and poignant poem! "The whisper in the wind" captures the sense of loss and loneliness, but also the comforting presence of a loved one watching over from beyond. The imagery and emotions conveyed are truly powerful and moving. The ending, with the comforting whisper and the gift of a shirt, brings a sense of warmth and hope to the reader. This poem "The whisper in the wind" is beautifully written and filled with emotion. The imagery of the boy's loneliness and struggles is vivid and poignant. The theme of a comforting presence in times of need is very touching.

The poem could be even more powerful with some added details about the relationship between the boy and his father, to help the reader better understand the depth of his loss. Additionally, incorporating more sensory details could enhance the reader's connection to the setting and emotions of the boy.

Overall, this poem is a heartfelt and moving piece. Keep writing and continue to explore different ways to bring your characters and scenes to life. Well done!
