Did you know your love was drowning when you pulled me in so deep?
Did you realize I was dying, or did you think I was asleep?
Did you know my heart was breaking, did you even look for a beat?
When you saw tears fall down my cheeks did you think it was rain?
Or did you know all along your “love” was causing me pain?
You can stand and play the victim, never plead guilty for this crime.
It wouldn’t matter anyways the heart put in a prison was mine  

About this poem

this is a poem about being unsure of a past lover/partner and being skeptical of their intentions. and whether or not it was love or love bombing throughout your relationship. this poem is written in the perspective of someone who is angry but doesn't know if they should be angry or not yet regardless, they still feel hurt by the way things ended.
