The man in the window way up high.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The man in the window is way up high.

The man in the window—that's who I am. The birds and squirrels all come to see me. The squirrels look up at the sky. I live on the second floor, which is so high. The squirrels look up and wait as I drop every one of them a cookie, then they run and hide. The birds in the trees wait for their seeds; it keeps them happy and free. You see, I live all alone, so I need them to be my friends. I leave a candle on at night so they can see the green light. I will never let them out of my sight. Because I am the man in the window late at night.
