One Ocean

Naveed Akram 1973 (London)

The ocean is an oneness, the ocean burdens us,
Forcing the arms of your head into what adjusts.
In this path of deeds upon deeds, we are skilled,
We live with trust and hope tonight, like someone thrilled.

The ocean is an oneness, to command us with phrases,
Waves, devils, demons and bright lights, inside phases.
Life is energised by praises, blazing fire and roars of fright,
Actions are produced by men of strength and sight.

The ocean can believe in oneness, it surprises, it pursues,
Like the opponents of a dignified man whom has a bruise.
The troughs and crests are the mysteries of a hero,
Their devils are faced with stones, feeling such sorrow.

The ocean sweats like sweet oneness, the dessert of the sky,
The monument of a body that lies and lies and curses, but why?
In the eye we deliver our moments of knowledge, the signs of little,
The revelations of the common man, the signatures of something brittle.
