Tango

Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)

The technique of this tango
no instructor can give
this tango will last as long as I live

Teenage posture stealthy, parallel
imperfect lines hid
you could never tell

trip of the foot
yet nailed a ten landing
deterioration beyond understanding

My partner and I
synchronized perfected
still it happened I was infected

Now twenty eight
this Tango prolongs
even the moonlight groans and yawns

My partner can’t let go
or dirt is worn sashes
if I dare let go then I fall to ashes

Have you ever Tangoed?
while trying to crawl?
that is my life death being stalled

Exhausting, draining,
hurts every stride
I don’t have a partner
no, my partner is I

I love to express myself through poetry. I can’t force inspiration so I only write when I feel moved. Authenticity is important to me!! If I can make anyone feel heard and understood, Then my goal is accomplished. more…
