Swallow The Dust

Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)

Imagine self love awaiting
fearless to confront the shame
childly your tail droops under your feet
silent my dear for your time will come

Burly ambitions wildly howl
rigid boundaries meant to be broken
damaged, yet unfolding life
serious, yet captivate by shining eyes

Invite me please to your tent of refuge
argue that it’s safer outside
Impressive it is, how you stand erect
press forward in face of shadows

Elite forces inhaling, exhaling courage
unnamed emotions rising like a fever
boast of the arms that hold you close
clearly weakness made you powerful

Irate compassion proves to be lonely
lost in the sea of righteous indignation
Wish to let go of strife and wrath
before you kill the love your awaiting

I love to express myself through poetry. I can’t force inspiration so I only write when I feel moved. Authenticity is important to me!! If I can make anyone feel heard and understood, Then my goal is accomplished. more…
