The Fool.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

          The Fool

If I had nothing, would you still love me? If I was a liar, would you set me on fire? If I were a fool, could I still learn the golden rule? If I couldn't walk and talk and all I could do was drool, could you still love me, or am I just a fool? Yes, I would still love you if you had all those things, and you would be my fool. You know I know all the rules. I will wipe the drool from your lips, and then I will give you the sweetest kiss. I will whisper in your ear the things you want to hear; there is nothing else for you to fear. I will always love you, my dear.

About this poem

I've seen this girl helping her husband in a nursing home and it got me wondering.
