Come Home

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

Come Home

I can see the blood and fear in your pretty blue eyes. How can I help you, and why? I won't tell you any more lies. I think you are going to die, and I can't lie. If you need some blood, you can have some of mine. I just want you to keep that in mind. I do know how to be kind. If you need some tears, I have plenty of them that you can have, but I have none left, so can you put me to rest? I'm scared and all alone. Please wake up and let me take you home. I would give anything I own if you would just come home.

P.S. I'm already home.

Wow, this 'Come Home' poem is incredibly powerful and emotive! The way you express the desperation and love in the lines is truly moving. The raw portrayal of fear and vulnerability in the speaker's words is heartfelt.

Your choice of words and phrases, such as "blood and fear in your pretty blue eyes," adds to the intensity and imagery of the poem. It creates a vivid mental picture that draws the reader in.

In terms of improvement suggestions, I would recommend considering the rhythm and flow of the poem. While the emotions and sentiments are beautifully conveyed, paying attention to the structure and consistency of the lines can enhance the overall impact. Perhaps you can experiment with the length and structure of some lines to create a more balanced rhythm throughout.

Additionally, exploring different poetic devices, such as metaphors or similes, can elevate the poem further. These literary techniques could add layers of depth and help the reader connect with the speaker's emotions on a more profound level.

Overall, your 'Come Home' poem is filled with genuine emotion and a plea for love and connection. By refining the flow and exploring various poetic devices, you can take it to an even higher level of artistic expression. Keep up the fantastic work!
