Over...Qualified!?

Turning back the clock.
For those young and old.
In a forever nonstopping mode.
Living for good times.
To have everlasting fun for them done.
Ignoring the voice of reason say,
'Isn't it time to find,
Something to do that occupies your mind.
Like a job to have?
And perhaps in your mind acknowledge,
Bills to pay do not get that way.
To rely on someone else them to be paid.
Nor food to eat to keep you fed.
While you lay in bed.
Using the electricity and gas to heat,
The roof you live under.
Then claim what's in the refrigerator,
Is not your preference nor does it please.
And then complain,
Money not earned but given to you...
Is not enough to meet,
Your entertainment needs.
Leaving the one to wonder why,
Someone like you brags about having...
A Masters Degree in economics!'

Voice of reason?

'Hush up, I'm not done.
And you, your friends sit around all day,
Convincing yourselves how young you appear.
When all of you do nothing else,
But do a sleepwalking done through your 30's.
Now all of you are approaching 41.
To be able to roll up your sleeves.
And apply to elbows,
With an overdue use of much needed...
Elbow grease!'

Voice of reason?
This has been discussed between us before.
But every door we've knocked on.
We were told of being over qualified.

'Over what?
Qualified?!
Over qualified to do what?'

Dance to the rhythm.
Hip hop and rap to the beat.
Harmonized to sing in tune.
With steps we choreographed,
And synchronized are our feet.

'But...
Didn't you earn a Masters Degree,
In Economics?'

Yeah, we did.
And the places we went to prove what we do.
They say we're over qualified.
Since clowns they've hired,
Who lied and deceived.
About degrees they didn't have.
Are in need to be replaced.
Because they dressed to give image.
Yet...
Nothing more did they do,
But prove a lack of competence.
Synchronized together.
And no common sense,
Our other employees noticed...
Had been skillfully choreographed.

'So...
What places did you go to show,
Your degrees in economics?'

Well...
After we were shown,
What they expected us to do.
To work magic and miracles to heal,
Today's devastating economy?
We decided,
Skills like that we no longer had.
So...
We depend on empathy and understanding.
With the hope the economy,
Doesn't get worse than it has.

Voice of reason?
What advice to us do you have?

Voice of reason?

Voice of reason?
Are you still there?
