The Catalyst

The Catalyst

It began with a tremble
That my eyes opened to glimpse.

Then the door plucked out.
I ran to the widow, the cover
Pulled out,
The roof shifted. I craved pulling
The rafters, but the speed twinkled.

The roof flipped;
The sky hovered squarely in its place,
Smooth and out-of-the-way.

The walls cracked and parted,
I tramped around without holding
Their corners.
They crumbled; everything tumbled
Backward.

Then I saw a universe,
My feet staggered over the rubbles
Into it,
The universe that won’t crumble.

About this poem

The poet dreamed about a world of a new order his dream ushered him into. He woke up when his old world was about to give way to the new order, when his apartment collapsed.
