False Profit

I’m not like the others,
I can fill your every need.
I will make you whole again,
Just blindly follow my lead.

Because I said so,
Is the only answer as to why.
I am above reproach,
And my words are beyond a lie.

For those who go astray,
And dare to contradict my plan,
The punishment will be harsh,
But you will learn to understand.

When they come for me,
My life you must defend.
For it was I who SAVED YOUR SOUL,
From a certain unpleasant end.

They will say things about me,
And you won’t like them very well.
But know that the heaven I promised you,
Has led you straight to hell.

About this poem

Remembering various so called religious leaders from various headlines in my past. Each stanza contains both what they say and what they don't say but are thinking, almost sarcastically so.

The side that deeply thinks about things. The side with an imagination and a desire to use my hands for more than just brute physical labor. more…
