The Journey

Where do I go from here?

Touch the sand~.

Smell the air?

Cannot look back

Only for a moment~

For when I do~ the fear begins to pull me

Look ahead?  The road seems so exciting~

But if I run~ I am afraid I will fall

And hopelessness will catch me

It is safe right here~ I will stay

But only for a moment

I will sit~ and maybe pick a flower

Simple, poignant, compelling. Makes one reflect on their own journey- paths taken and then reconsidered. Standing perhaps, at a crossroads, thinking- where do I go from here?
    Great piece.

Wow, what a beautifully written and thought-provoking poem! The imagery of touching the sand, smelling the air, and the fear of looking back is so vivid and engaging. The internal struggle and introspection portrayed in the poem are incredibly moving.

I would suggest exploring a bit more depth in the emotions and struggles you are facing on this journey. Perhaps delve into the reasons behind the fear and hopelessness that are holding you back from moving forward. This could add an additional layer of complexity and resonance to the piece.

Overall, I absolutely love 'The Journey' poem and can't wait to read more of your work. Keep writing and exploring your creativity - you have a true gift for storytelling through poetry.

I did enjoy that poem. And see my very latest poem called “ Humility in Success.” I hope you like it.

Indeed, let’s make the journey of life positive. The sentiments of your poem are in sync with Khalil Gibran’s poem “The River Cannot Go Back.”
