One Flower In My Garden

One Flower In My Garden

One tiny soul lies beside me tonight;
A blessing from God that gives my life light.
There are many flowers in my garden, divine;
I cannot believe I can call them all mine.

When once I had thought they would never bloom;
I forgot to water them or would water them too soon,
But then, I gained wisdom and tended them right;
Then, lo, and behold!  I have before me this sight!

Everywhere I stroll, the fragrance is sweet,
Surrounding my head, with a blanket at my feet.
My bouquet is so lovely; I pluck a vase for my table;
And every day I pass by, I sniff when I am able.

Yes, this tiny soul that lies beside me tonight,
Reminds me of how my life is so right!
With every breath this lovely flower takes,
Gives my life sustenance for Heaven's sake.

Now, I close my eyes in wonder--bow my head and pray.
Lord, I do thank thee for each waking day.
To behold my garden of treasured blooms;
That fills my heart with renaissance tunes.

About this poem

I dedicate this poem to my granddaughter, Alyssa and her mother, my daughter Tiffany, who brought her to me. The verse was written in the middle of the night when Alyssa was sleeping with me. Glancing at her sleeping, all her innocence and sweetness brought out the notepad. These are an inner treasure box of feelings in all of us. Some choose not to open and express: I choose to express and share for those who care to read. Most poetry is written with sentiment and from the soul, which is fed from the heart. And those poems live on from each opened treasure box.

    I genuinely enjoyed reading your poem 'One Flower In My Garden'. It is a beautiful composition with such vivid imagery that it transported me straight to a vibrant, blossoming garden. There's a deep sense of gratitude and joy conveyed through your words that resonate deeply. Your command of language and rhyming scheme is commendable and enveloped the poem with a sweet, melodic rhythm.

    However, there's always room for improvement. One suggestion could be to focus more on individual elements, such as the flower's color, shape, or texture, to further enhance your vivid descriptions. Apply the same attention to specific detail while describing emotions. It might also be useful to pay attention to the rhythm and flow further. While most of the poem reads smoothly, there are a couple of places where the rhythm seems to hiccup a bit due to the combination of words used or an extra syllable or two.

    Overall, it's evident that you've poured love and dedication into this piece. It's a work of heart, and that makes it genuinely special. Keep crafting such captivating poetry!
