My Shadow Yet Lives

Your shadow dies twice.

First, when the sun sets at dusk.

Then, once you learn love.

About this poem

I remember reading Magic Tree House as a kid and there was one book where the kids traveled back to ancient Japan. On their adventure, they met Basho, the famous Japanese poet of the age. I remember reading the Haiku he gifts to the kids in the book, which profoundly unlocked something inside me- I still remember it word for word (and I recommend you Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about). I've seen a few Haikus submitted here, and I wanted to raise my own to see how it does.
