Life Force!

                                    Life Force!

Slow motion when pressed in a real life remote recanted with strife an inability for quote to react to control uppermost.
Like a boat unrigged and lost at sea the gem that is him is not lost on me but what can you do how to react when trying to deal with such ominous fact
Abolition of control prevails as he sets sail on the open ocean that is his health, grim reapers breath blowing a gale, with no chance to catch him in my Auxiliary irons, Avast from my birds nest Awash with no sail.

~

And as I watch the Ship set sail going off to a land where memories evoke happier times recalled and bespoke the life force slowly fades away to the horizon driven ever quicker by gales sway until in the distance can only be seen a memory where he once would have been.

~

Headed for tremendous applause a final breath draws.
No matter how strong the grasp how long the claws that hold the hope that never fades till final beat and soulless gaze.
Time to reflect and with apparent candour that which once is, is now that which once was.
So as time goes by the reality sinks in which in turn status quo begin but loss so pure for all who endure never abates as loss is sure for all but none so be sure to live life’s day as your last one!

About this poem

I wrote this poem on the 1st anniversary of My Fathers death at home from Lung Cancer. I reflected on the sense of loss and helplessness I felt that day as his life came to an end.

Seamus Donnelly

I am a 50 year old married Father of 3 Children. I live in the north of Ireland and grew up in the same Townlands as Seamus Heaney. I found poetry and writing short stories a fantastic way of articulating my feelings and holding onto many happy and indeed sad memories of days gone by. It also gives me a sense of peace being able to tell and pass on stories of my childhood, life experiences and the characters that were involved within it to my sons and daughter so they can understand and hold onto what I believe is as real a piece of my being when I am no longer for this world. To sum it up, I'm Just another soul trying to navigate this life as best I can! more…
