NO WAY OUT

Tracey Lee 1973 (London)

NO WAY OUT
No way out, compressed in this mould,
Leaded heart, the magnet grabs hold,
An ongoing battle, trying to break free,
Locked in this dungeon and you've got the key,
Trapped in lonliness, yearning for heat,
It's winter four seasons, the lies, the deceit,
Bitterness crawls through my veins as I weep,
Not hungry, thirsty, I can't even sleep,
Just numb and so cold, like a statue so still,
Waiting for the day, you release this chill,
Confused, insane, wondering how did this start?
These thorns inside have just torn me apart,
Oh what does it matter, as if you care,
I'm a fish on the shore, gasping for air,
So very immobile, yet drowning so deep,
And these memories inside, I will always keep,
So who are you anyway, to have a hold over me,
Leave me to my own devices, please, set me FREE.

About this poem

As a teenager, I stayed in my room a lot, writing poems, stories, creating art and listening to radio. I was a thinker, a ponderer, a searcher... I still am. (1989) ©
