When You Left Me

The day that I realized you were gone, I was overwhelmed
Every morning was harder than the last
I struggled to get up from bed accepting that you had left me
Nights grew longer and colder with your trail still present
I waited for you to return to me, but I knew you weren’t coming back
My love for you had disappeared one day, I had forgotten you completely
Everything didn’t revolve around you, the world didn’t end, and I was still breathing
I no longer felt like I needed you in my life
Getting up from my bed started to get easier each morning
