Savior

Danielle McGee 1985 (Wisconsin)

I hurt myself to feel something
When I'm numb and dead inside
I hurt myself to release something
When I'm overwhelmed and terrified

I hurt myself to punish something
When I'm guilty and ashamed
I hurt myself to control something
When I'm helpless and blamed

I hurt myself to escape something
When I'm trapped and suffocated
I hurt myself to express something
When I'm silenced and invalidated

But hurting myself is not the answer
It only harms me more
It only makes me suffer
It only adds to the gore

I need some help and support
To stop this harmful behavior
I need some love and care
To find a healthier savior
