My Poetic Shell

I'm not predisposed to read some nice prose.
I did enjoy what I've seen
But I've recently found I can't write it down
And express just what I mean.

My images will trip and probably flip
The feelings deep inside,
And never see day in spite of the way
I tried and tried and tried!

I'll stay with my rhymes that do work sometimes
And meter helps me as well.
But maybe I will, with some time to kill,
Come out of my poetic shell.

A few things can be said of this. One may think that the speaker is complicating the case or issue. Poetry is poetry and prose is prose, and the two should not be confused or mixed. Thus, why to worry about not wanting or motivated to write prose? Use each for what they are for. When wanting to write a poem, put on you poetic hat. When the theme calls for prose, do just that.
This poem tries to make too much of something that should be of no trouble to the speaker of the poem.
