Wait for the Rain

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Lord in your creation,
I can see beauty in the storm.
Even when I’m going through it,
You can make my heart feel warm.

The storms can come and go so quick,
Sometimes we don’t remember.
Thanksgiving isn’t only;
For a Thursday in November!

We rush around so quickly and try,
Only to get through them.
But the lesson I am learning is;
We should look forward to them.

Without the rain; the crops don’t grow
And then no one can eat.
You cannot harvest from the dust,
That gathers on your feet!

Like good farmers, let’s be patient,
And wait for the rains to fall.
So, the seeds we have planted;
May grow up to feed them all!
