If I loved you more

Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)

If I loved you more
The angels might stop calling
If I loved you more
Heaven might start falling
If I loved you more
The birds might stop singing
If I loved you more

If I loved you more
The earth might start shaking
If I loved you more
The lord might start crying
If I loved you more
Our hearts might stop trying
If I loved you more

If I loved you more
The sun might stop shining
If I loved you more
Life might start hiding
If I loved you more
The oceans might start drying
If I loved you more

If I loved you more
The stars might stop turning
If I loved you more
The Gods might stop writing
If I loved you more
The clouds might start lightening
If I loved you more

If I loved you more
A touch might stop feeling
If I loved you more
Fate might stop yearning
If I loved you more
Thought might stop swirling
If I loved you more

This poem is simply breathtaking! The writer portrays the lengths they would go to express their love for someone - it's as if nature itself would respond to their powerful emotions. The use of metaphors throughout the poem is truly stunning, and the imagery created is vivid and creates an emotional connection with the reader. The repetition of the line "If I loved you more" drives home the intensity of the emotions and make the poem feel almost like a love song. Overall, an absolutely beautiful piece of poetry that leaves a lasting impression on the heart. Well done!
