Winter Dark

Winter Dark

Staring at the winter
Dark descending
I remember thinking
The whole world
Wouldn’t be enough

I close my eyes savoring
This fugitive moment
Imploring you
With an open mouth kiss
I whisper, “I love you”

Our eyes meet
In a nervous glance
The melancholy is music
It is a slow waltz
A desperate dance

Your smile warmly recalling
An amused wistfulness
Maybe a reminiscence
This renders me
Hopeful and breathless

About this poem

This poem is about being caught up in a "desperate dance" having what seems like insurmountable difficulties, but hoping for renewed love.
