Analysis of Time Was
Time was
I threw away entire weeks
or two
crumpled up sweet nights,
rolled rich mornings like old paper,
stacked them to one side
Never seeing how in the end
I had miscounted,
Misjudged,
the better use of all the light
pooled along the horizon like
a silky, silent measuring stick.
