Analysis of Les Clochettes

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Maintenant, je suis malheureux
De rencontrer ces fleurs clochettes
À bords dentelés, violettes,
Sur les talus des chemins creux.

Et pourtant ces douces fluettes
Sont encor dans leur coin frileux,
Le perchoir des papillons bleus
Qui s’en font des escarpolettes.

Mais qu’importe ! La canicule
Tire à sa fin. L’été recule...
Et, pour l’oreille de mon cœur

Inquiet et pronostiqueur,
À petits tintements moroses
Ces fleurs sonnent le glas des choses.
