Sur le vieux mur qui se lézarde,
Que de lézards gris ! ça fourmille !
Quand je m’en vais dans la charmille,
Toutes les fois je les regarde.

L’un d’eux sur ma main se hasarde,
Car moi, je suis de la famille.

Je n’ai point la mine hagarde
Pour la bestiole gentille,
Et c’est en paix qu’elle frétille,
Se sachant bien en bonne garde
