Analysis of Le Chasseur en soutane

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Il tire aussi bien qu’il pérore,
Le grand curé sec et rustaud.
— Pour s’en aller chasser plus tôt,
Il dit sa messe dès l’aurore.

Ce n’est pas en vain qu’il explore
Le bois, la brande et le plateau !
Il tire aussi bien qu’il pérore,
Le grand curé sec et rustaud.

Mais son tricorne qu’il décore
D’une plume de cailleteau
Se profile au flanc du coteau.
Un coup part !… C’est un lièvre encore.
Il tire aussi bien qu’il pérore.
