Analysis of I Followed
I followed you to love unknown.
To be lost and found.
Through unlocked windows and open doors.
Detoured my future to fulfill yours.
One step unearthing the next I kept
a cadence of dissolving dissolution that broke
my pace. I stumbled upon mounds of
Sepia saturated skin warmed my toes
In between your last lovers mistakes.
Blameless in my need to heal you and whole you
While the tomorrow of my own soul could
only have value in your eyes. I followed.
And you got close enough and deep enough to slide
beneath the creases of fragile longing without a sound
Measuring my heartbeats. I knew that it was too early to assess the damage.
In the darkness I enabled your light
to shine.
In your shadow, I extinguished my own.
