Analysis of THE DANCE OF SEASONS
Elizabeth Njeri Waweru 1991 (Naivasha)
Life is easier to understand in seasons,
Some seasons are bad, and some are great,
Some seasons are fruitful, and others are fall,
Some seasons are rainy, while others are dry,
Some seasons are snowy, while some are sunny.
The problem with us humans is we never appreciate a season,
On sunny days we want rain, and on rainy days we want sun,
So we don't enjoy the rain, or the sun,
For rain we got umbrellas, for sun we got SPF,
If it's so bad, why do we miss it when it's gone.
I'm no saying there aren't some cold, dark seasons,
Seasons we want to speed up and live out,
I'm saying they are seasons, they don't last forever.
And even on the darkest ones, there are stars in the sky.
And on the coldest ones, there's a hot steamy shower and some hot cocoa.

About this poem
This is a poem of hope. The urge to look for a glimmer of hope in the darkest of times. And sometimes it could just be that they won't last forever.
