LOVED RIGHT

Some people say they have dark corners,
My heart was all night with smile adorners,
Till his spark appeared, a guiding light,
A childhood dream, brought to life.

Once a tale from soap operas, Love
I knew not its truth, nor its stronghold.
He waited patiently, as I learned to see,
Love’s blossoming flower, so gracefully

He wasn’t even careful or scared,
The vulnerability that comes with loving,
Falling like the floor is full of cotton balls.
I wonder if I’ll ever love like he does.

A decade’s passed, love hasn’t killed us,
I guess I’m his world full of cotton balls,
He is mine, the soul that knows me most,
Absorbing my darkness, yet always the host.

He saw beyond smiles, into my night,
With jokes and laughter, darkness took flight.
Breaking my walls, he never ceased,
All my fears left my body one by one.

A window opened, he dived right in,
Two hearts entwined, no more walls to spin.
Now two people break my walls each day,
My daughter’s love, his love, they sway.

Nostalgia lingers as he dives again,
My daughter basks in love’s warm rain.
She knows love’s touch, both fierce and kind,
With a loving mother and father, she’s aligned.

In her world, there’s no darkness to find,
For she’s the sun, radiant and kind.
