Analysis of Som en Lotus paa den stille Sø

Hans Christian Andersen 1805 (Odense) – 1875 (Copenhagen)

Som en Lotus paa den stille Sø
Er i Norden Qvinden;
Fra den dybe Havbund Skjønheds Frø
Groer og sætter Blomst trods Nordenvinden.
Her i Syd bag Pyrenæertinden
Groer Granatblomst, der paa Trolddoms Viis
Pludselig er Frugt fra Paradiis,
Glødende, et Flammevæld fra Inden.
Lotusblomst, hvor er Du frisk og skjær,
Tro i Hjertet, Tanker bygge der;
Spaniens Ildblomst, Trolddom eier Du,
Barnet bliver Jomfru i et Nu,
Livet er et Kys, et sødt Forsvinden.
Brænd Du mig til Aske, lad mig døe;
Lotusblomst paa Nordens dybe Sø,
Bed en Bøn for mig — hos Spanierinden.
