Venter Du Tak, da er Du en Daare,
Staa døv og steenkold, saa faae de Respekt,
Dig de ei krænke, Dig de ei saare,
Nærme sig ei som den surrende Myg,
Nei de kun spytte ad Dig bag din Ryg.
Giv Dig ei hen til Den, Du troer kjende,
Husk at din Ven kan blive din Fjende.
— Dog følg dit Hjerte! giv af dit Hjerte!
Venter Du Glæde —, ja, da faaer Du Smerte.
