Analysis of Den, som jeg gav af mit Hjerteblod

Hans Christian Andersen 1805 (Odense) – 1875 (Copenhagen)

Den, som jeg gav af mit Hjerteblod,
Hun traadte mig med sin fine Fod;
Dem, som jeg gav hvert Tankens Barn,
De dænged' mig over med Gadens Skarn,
Og gav jeg et Suk idet jeg led,
Saa kaldte de det Utaknemlighed;
Der blæser en iiskold, skjærende Vind,
Den trænger som Gift i mit Hjerte ind,
Den kommer fra Menneskets Hjertebund,
O, maatte mit briste i denne Stund!
