Analysis of The Invitation

Douglas H. Mc Clintock 1934 (Sarnia, Ontario)

On my second date with my new girl friend
She asked me to go to church  with her one day.
I was taken back, but what the heck, where and when ?
Really, what else could I say ? ( I really liked her )

Before I met her I had been out to church before
So I understood it I thought,
But to be honest, the text was always a bore !
Was i someone to be taught ?

The people at the church were far too friendly
As if they knew me like forever
I could see they had a spirit of community
And cheerfulness beyond measure !

Born again, sins forgiven ,what was that about ?
The Father, Son, Holy Spirit were spoken here,
I was a person finding out.
The pastor with passion made it very clear.

This church walked the altar call line
Newest of life, friendship with God was evident here.
It was something I could never decline,
Imagine, my old past would disappear !

So dear reader, if you have read this, thus far,
Let God be your Savior today,
Don't be a wanderer, He will set your life's bar
Give Him the Final say !
