Puppy Love

Sweet 16 and never been kissed,
But that all changed when I met a girl named Susie !
And pretty and nice like a princess,
My first real girl friend, what a doozie.

Can you imagine, she wrote me love letters ?
With X's on the front of the envelope,
Life couldn't been ever better
I knew I was 16, but not a first class dope !

We lived a river apart - St Clair River that is,
I was a Canadian and she was an American.
That didn't stop us, that wonderful summer
Two silly kids liking each other !

Holding hands we did, I really liked her !
It was puppy love so innocent and brave,
Life was very real and not a blur,
I was her prince charming, shinning in all my armor !

She looked so pretty in her blouse and dress,
I fell heads and heels for that lovely lass,
Too young to drive, taking the bus solved our guess,
Maybe a movie, but being together was all we needed.

But summers always end
And that was the summer that was,
I lost my first girl friend
But not my memories I have when I was 16 !
